HOW TO CLEAN PILLOWCASES

Sometimes hitting the pillow is much more tempting than washing your face. So if you decided to head to bed before removing your makeup, don’t worry; we won’t let that stained pillow ruin your morning – or your plan for brunch!

How to Remove Makeup Stains from a Pillowcase

This method works best for cotton pillowcases. If you have a wool or silk pillowcase, you may want to take it to the dry cleaners. This makeup stain-removal method works great on mascara, eyeliner, foundation, lipstick, blush, bronzer, lip liner, concealer and just about all types makeup. Just follow these steps:

  • Remove the pillowcase. Resist the temptation to touch or scrub the stain.
  • Use your fingernail or a credit card to scrape off any dry debris.
  • Turn the pillowcase inside out, and flush the backside of the stain with cold water.
  • Turn the pillowcase over, and blot (don’t rub) the stain with a clean, dry towel.
  • Apply a dot of dish soap directly to the stain.
  • Use your fingers to lather the soap over the stain.
  • For extra-stubborn stains, grab an old toothbrush and scrub the fabric in a circular motion.
  • Allow the soap and water to do their magic on the stain for up to 20 minutes.
  • Blot the soapy suds with a wet cloth, and flush with hot water.
  • Cover the stain with a stain remover pre-treatment, and toss the pillowcase in the washing machine.
